We find some great herps on this snake hunting adventure, a very large black racer,a brown snake,southern leopard frogs, and an injured box turtle, even a fiddler crab. But Matt got his hands on the camera, so this video was edited a bit more loosely than usual, including what would normally be considered outtakes and edits. Enjoy!

Florida trip 2011 includes a visit to the Florida Everglades. We found lots of interesting reptiles and amphibians on this trip including the endangered American Crocodile, some Gopher Tortoises and some exotic species as well.

At a rattlesnake den where the females have recently given birth

Snakes all have different individual personalities and like humans they have good days and bad days and a very calm gentle snake can be having an off day and become VERY aggressive and unruly and hard to work with.
Faide is a huge heavy Dumeril's Ground Boa and this was one of his cranky grouchy days and how I handle each of my snakes when they act up and it's very effective. In a sense you have to discipline a snake when they try to control you. Jade my female Coastal Carpet Python (9 feet) learned through my doing this with her if she was flighty and didn't respond in a positive way she got little time out of her enclosure so she has completely stopped acting up when I try to take her out and now she loves being out and realizes the end results when she doesn't act properly. I've raised all of my snakes like this and that's why they don't strike at people or display aggressive behavior,

I took Flash in in very poor condition as a rescue and have only had him for 3 years and he has become a very sweet healthy snake and he has fathered 104 Corn Snake eggs with my big girl Tawny and I'm so proud of his progress since he was so sickly and thin when I got him. I don't understand how anyone can neglect or abuse these animals as vulnerable and helpless as they are and it really breaks my heart :( I apologize for my cell phone going off constantly while I was filming but it's a non stop everyday event unless I shut it off LOL

Misconception about snakes !! Many people say that snakes are ONLY attracted to people because of their body heat and that being the case a snake wouldn't spread itself out but instead would coil up in a tight coil to radiate heat from one heat source throughout it's entire body being cold blooded animals !!
Also you take your snakes outdoors on a 90 degree day and they cling to you and stay near you and on you that isn't because they are seeking your body heat when in fact the air around them is just as warm as a person is if not warmer.
Snakes relax and stretch out with their handler because they are comfortable, content and feel safe and secure and it has nothing at all to do with your body heat or the snake would be coiled up into a tight coil.

Tawny took 12 hours to lay a total of 34 healthy eggs she started at 3 in the afternoon and laid her last egg around 3 in the morning and she always wants to be near me and close by me when she lays her eggs and she tries so hard to come out so she can lay her eggs on my lap but I can't allow that for safety measures for her and her eggs.
Many of the eggs came out attached to the next egg but as the eggs hardened up inside the incubator the thin sheath of tissue that bound them together end to end broke loose so now all her eggs are separated and looking great :)
Poor Tawny is exhausted and will rest for about a week and then she will start eating again and will be back to her normal behavior and actions and I'm SO proud of her she's such an awesome snake Mom !!!
I wasn't trying to draw pictures on her eggs I mark each one to be sure they remain right side up so the babies don't die in the eggs and every time I went to mark one of the eggs Tawny smacked my hand with her back thus the marks all over her eggs ROFL

I'm sorry I've not been making many videos but we've had crazy weather and we are doing a complete remodel of my house and I bought each of my snakes a new enclosure from NPI Cages so I've been exceptionally busy working on my house but today was beautiful so I brought out Chewy to show everyone how much he's grown over the winter months :o)
The new big snake room addition (10 by 14) is being added after we have the new electrical and plumbing done in the bathroom and the face of my house is finished off with the rough cut white pine boards over the next few weeks :) The snake room addition will house all of their new snake enclosures and give them plenty of room to free roam in the snake room if they so choose to come out of their enclosures.
I apologize because I'm behind on making videos and keeping up with my friends videos but we've been starting work early in the day each day and not getting done til late afternoon and I didn't want to have my snakes out as much with all the loud power tools being used around my house to risk my snakes getting stressed out :)

Late at night I noticed Faide my big Dumeril's Ground Boa starting his shed and as always I watch them until they are done in the event that they need any assistance. Tipr my adult 5 foot long Ball Python noticed me kneeling on the floor at the end of his enclosure so came out to see why I was sitting there and he noticed Faide shedding in his enclosure across from Tipr's and he found it interesting so he sat there the entire time with his body in his hide and his chin propped on top of his hide watching Faide as he completed his entire shed. Snakes are such curious animals :)

I will let this video speak for itself in reference to this videos title :) So many people have content snakes confused with a snake being bored :( Human interaction plays a vital role in your snakes temperament and personality.Snakes notice all small changes around them and being naturally curious animals many people confuse their natural curiosity with aggressive behavior which it isn't by no means.

I took Tipr out today (1st trip out this year) and decided to share some great tips and information in this video while filming him outdoors that I feel can make things so much easier for people to bond with their snakes and raise them to be social animals.

Sorry for the camera shaking I had my camera and upper body inside of Faide's enclosure :) Also why some of the audio wasn't the clearest.
There is so much misinformation out there about raising snakes and I feel that it's better to not give other people no advice or information rather than giving them the wrong information about snakes !!
How your snakes turn out is TOTALLY up to you and the time you invest with them and interacting with them and building a personal relationship of trust with each snake to help each one further develop it's temperament and personality :o)

I'd like to add that my girl Jade is still resting calmly and comfortably and still holding back her other 8 big eggs for a total of 15 eggs once she lays the last 8 and my girl Opal (one of Tawny's babies from 2 years ago) just gave us 13 beautiful healthy eggs late last night :o)
