live free armory WHY are the sweat bees or hover flies swarming my pick ax handle??

As a kid we would call these insects sweat bees. Technically they’re not bees at all, they are called hover flies. I was walking through the garden and I noticed they were swarming on the yellow handle of my pick ax. The bag right next to it was yellow but it didn’t have any cover flies on it. My conclusion was since I was just using the pick ax there was sweat from my hands on the pick ax as well as the handle being bright yellow.
