Welcome to April's Sharks4Kids Marine Science Hangout! Each month we connect with a different marine scientist or ocean explorer to learn about our oceans (spoiler alert, sharks might be featured once or twice!). Anybody can watch live and we'll pick 4-5 classes for each session to participate directly on screen with an unlimited number able to watch the live stream. 

We'll be heading to the Cook Islands to connect with Jess Cramp. Jess is a scientist, surfer, diver, pilot, writer, conservationist and a National Geographic Emerging Explorer. She spearheaded the effort to establish the 2 million square kilometer Cook Islands Shark Sanctuary in 2012 and she has also turned her conservation group, Sharks Pacific, into a key player in shark research and conservation.

Jess has contributed to Women’s Adventure Magazine, Escape Magazine, and National Geographic’s Adventure blog. She's a consummate optimist, whose positive energy is contagious, along with her willingness to spend however long it takes to see the conservation projects she’s working on through to produce results

The goal of Sharks4Kids is to create a new generation of shark advocates through access to a dynamic range of educational materials. Curriculum, games, activities, photos and videos from scientists, videographers and conservationists bring an exciting element into the classroom and show students the beauty of sharks and the ocean. A unique opportunity for the next generation to learn why sharks need kids and kids need sharks.
