Welcome to Sharks4Kids Marine Science Hangout, our 2nd for the new school year! Each month we connect with a different marine scientist or ocean explorer to learn about our oceans (spoiler alert, sharks might be featured once or twice!). Anybody can watch live and we'll pick 3 classes for each session to participate directly on screen. The format will consist of a lesson followed by a Q&A session. Questions can be sent in advance, asked live via the chat sidebar and of course from the onscreen classes.
We will be broadcasting live from the South Island of Bimini in the Bahamas! Sharks4Kids founder and marine biologist Jillian Morris will be joined by members from the Bimini Biological Field Station ( www.biminisharklab.com) to do a live shark 'work up' at the lab. Your class won’t want to miss the opportunity to see live science in action. Along with our special wild shark guest, there will be plenty of time to ask questions!
The goal of Sharks4Kids is to create a new generation of shark advocates through access to a dynamic range of educational materials. Curriculum, games, activities, photos and videos from scientists, videographers and conservationists bring an exciting element into the classroom and show students the beauty of sharks and the ocean. A unique opportunity for the next generation to learn why sharks need kids and kids need sharks.
